With the introduction of the Season of the Infernal Hordes, a new permanent activity was introduced to the game and is not only worth the grind, it’s fun too.
With a similar name to the season, The Infernal Hordes is an activity that allows you to fight waves of enemies and eventually collect a lot of loot.
Before you can participate in such an activity, you will first need to obtain an Infernal Compass or more, but these are not that difficult to get as the game offers you different ways.
Where To Get Infernal Compass?
An Infernal Compass may be obtained in several ways and most of these lies throughout Sanctuary depending on what methods you choose.
Areas, where the Helltide Event is present, provide you with a chance to get an Infernal Compass while Nightmare Dungeons and other activities also work.
Depending on how you plan on getting the Infernal Compass will determine which location you should go to.
How To Farm Infernal Hordes Compass?
1) Crafting at An Occultist
If you have done a few Nightmare Dungeons, you should have enough Nightmare Sigils to salvage to make Sigil Powder.
The Infernal Hordes Compasses can be crafted with Sigil Powder and Forgotten Souls, making it worth doing Nightmare Dungeons.
Nightmare Dungeons require Nightmare Sigils and you can get these from claiming rewards from the Tree of Whispers.
2) Opening Helltide Chests
The Helltide has a lot to offer when it comes to farming and if you go around opening Helltide Chests, there is a good chance you can get an Infernal Compass.
This however requires you to defeat enemies during the Helltide Events to get Aberrant Cinders, which are needed to open the Helltide Chests.
Infernal Compasses may drop from any chest, making it good to open the cheapest ones so you can easily farm as many as you can before the Helltide disappears.
3) Running Nightmare Dungeons
Nightmare Dungeons are a great way to farm equipment, materials, and even more Nightmare Sigils or Sigil Powder but the loot doesn’t just stop there.
You may also get a chance to obtain Infernal Hordes Compasses as a reward for completing Nightmare Dungeons.
Not only is the loot from each run useful, but the opportunity to get an Infernal Compass makes Nightmare Dungeons all the better to farm now and then.
4) Participating in The Pit
If you are around the endgame phase of the season and are aiming to make your gear even stronger, you can do this and obtain Infernal Compasses at the same time.
The Pit is an excellent choice for those who want to get Infernal Compasses as well as materials such as Obducite for masterworking pieces of equipment.
This may take some time but the option to farm more than just Infernal Compasses can help you progress faster when you do Infernal Hordes runs.
5) Collecting Whisper Caches
While this may not be the best way to get an Infernal Compass, if you happen to complete objectives for the Tree of Whispers, you can claim caches from them later.
There is a small chance that an Infernal Compass may drop when you open the cache that you get from the Tree of Whispers.
This makes it useful to always claim the rewards, especially if you are farming during the Helltide Events as these can help you speed things up.
Best Way to Farm Infernal Hordes Compass
It seems that one of the best ways to get your hands on Infernal Compasses would be to farm Nightmare Dungeons.
This is because you have a chance to get an Infernal Compass just by completing the dungeon and afterward, you can salvage Nightmare Sigils and use the Sigil Powder for crafting them.
Aside from Nightmare Dungeons and crafting Infernal Compasses, opening Helltide Chests is another option that you can resort to.
Infernal Hordes Compass Uses
The Infernal Hordes Compass, which is known in short as just an Infernal Compass, is used to open the Gates of Hell for you to fight the demons on their turf.
This allows you to fight multiple waves of enemies and rewards you with Burning Aether up to the point where you fight the Fell Council.
Once the Fell Council is defeated, you can use the Burning Aether you have collected to obtain various high-quality loot.
How To Use Infernal Hordes Compass?
The Infernal Compass works like how Nightmare Sigils work as you simply need to use them from your Consumables menu.
This will open the Gates of Hell, which you can fast travel to start The Infernal Hordes activity. (This is introduced in the seasonal questline)
Using an Infernal Compass will consume it, which requires that you have one available if you plan on doing The Infernal Hordes activity.
What Are Abyssal Scrolls?
An Abyssal Scroll is a consumable that may be used to upgrade an Infernal Compass, which will increase its tier by 1.
The higher the tier of the Infernal Compass, the better the rewards you can get but this also means you will be facing tougher enemies.
Obtaining Abyssal Scrolls is a good way to turn your low-tier Infernal Compasses into new ones, which is cheaper than crafting them from scratch.
Verdict
With the various ways to obtain an Infernal Compass, it’s best to choose the activity that will benefit you most so that you can tackle multiple goals.
Nightmare Dungeons are a great way to farm Infernal Compasses but opening Helltide Chests and doing other activities works well. (Depending on what you can complete faster)
Infernal Compasses will have different tiers, where the difficulty increases based on the tier that you plan to use.
