Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly open to negotiating with Real Madrid after the Spanish side's Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Arsenal. With Carlo Ancelotti's tenure with Los Blancos likely drawing to a close after the 2024/25 season, the club is on the hunt for a new boss.
Klopp, who has been out of management since leaving Liverpool last summer, is high on their list of candidates. UOL reports that Klopp is ready to discuss a potential comeback to the touchline with Real Madrid. The mastermind behind Liverpool's success in recent years, the German recently took the role of sporting director for the Red Bull football group.

Ancelotti, aged 65, has enjoyed two stints at the helm of Real Madrid, from 2013-15 and again from 2021 to the present but may move on this summer. During his stints, he has secured two La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, three Copa del Reys, three Super Cups, and two Club World Cups. Despite these achievements, a challenging season could see him leave the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid currently trails arch-rivals Barcelona by four points in La Liga. The reigning European champions were humiliated in the Champions League this week, succumbing to a 5-1 aggregate defeat to Arsenal, losing both home and away legs. Their next opportunity for silverware will be the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona on April 26.

In the aftermath of their crushing defeat to Arsenal, Ancelotti hinted at his potential departure from the club. Speaking after the 2-1 loss at the Bernabeu, the former Everton boss said: "It could be this year, next year when my contract runs out...There's no problem about it.
"It could be tomorrow, in one year, or in 10 years, but I will be grateful to this club. And that's it. Full stop. We have done very well in the last seasons but this year we have had to suffer. Things haven't gone as expected but it happens in sport because there are no unbeatable teams."

Upon leaving Liverpool, Klopp cited his need for rest and his dwindling energy reserves as a key factor in his decision to walk away from the Anfield outfit. He said: "It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now.
"I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again. After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth." It remains to be seen whether Klopp feels that he is ready to return to the touchline already, may that be with Madrid or elsewhere, or decides to commit his immediate future to the Red Bull project.
