Six of America's best baking duos begin their journey to becoming wedding cake champions. Hosts Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski hit the contestants with their first surprise and introduce special guest Randy Fenoli from Say Yes to the Dress who challenges the bakers to create an outrageous dress cake topper. The competitors go on to create a dream wedding cake combining traditional design with a super hero theme and plain with fruity flavors for an engaged couple. Judges David Tutera, Maneet Chauhan and Kimberly Bailey will then decide which team will be sent home.
Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski task the five remaining teams with making the ultimate destination beach wedding cake topper. Then the teams meet their next client, a lively couple getting married on the beach in Mexico. The couple wants their cake to include their favorite things about Mexico, like vibrant colors, beaches, Dia de los Muertos and margaritas. The judges send one baking duo out with the tide, but the four surviving teams surf closer to $25,000.
Tara Lipinski's dog Dublin joins the four remaining teams to introduce a precocious pet topper challenge. Then Johnny Weir and Tara introduce Brandon and Matthew, who ask the bakers to combine Brandon's love of nature with Matthew's love of the city. They both like cookies more than cake, so the bakers must find common ground. Only three teams will make it to the finale and get one step closer to $25,000.
The final three teams must make a first anniversary celebration cake for Tara Lipinski and her husband, Todd Kapostasy. The couple wants to capture all of their travels on one cake, plus they have an untimely surprise for the competitors. In the end, only one team will win $25,000 and be crowned the Wedding Cake Champions!

In the cake round, the bakers must create a dream wedding cake for Andrea and Jered, a couple of professional puppeteers who want a blend of a traditional wedding design for her and a puppet theme for him. The couple chooses their favorite cake to have at their wedding, and expert judges Kimberly Bailey, Maneet Chauhan and Randy Fenoli decide which team is sent home.

Phil posted the video online, and it went viral with more than 3 million views! The couple chooses their dream wedding cake, and judges Kimberly Bailey, Maneet Chauhan and Randy Fenoli surprise everyone when they name the team that's going home.

In the grand finale, the last three teams of bakers start by making lifelike flower cake toppers. For their final cake challenge, the teams must bake epic cakes that exude New England glam for Ashley I. and Jared, two lovebirds who fell for each other in front of the world on Bachelor in Paradise. Judges Kimberly Bailey, Maneet Chauhan and Randy Fenoli make the final decision of which team wins $25,000 and is crowned the Wedding Cake Champions.
